Mason Girls Swimming Earns Three State Titles

Mason Girls Swimming Team finished as the OHSAA State Runner-up this past Saturday in Canton, Ohio.  The team had an outstanding state meet and battled Upper Arlington toe to toe for the entire meet, eventually falling short by a mere 10 points.  This  second place team finish was Mason's highest point finish ever at a state swim meet.  Last year, Mason finished with a stellar thrid place team finish and definitely improved on that showing.

Junior super star, Ashley Volpenhein, lead the Comets with two individual state titles, one in the 50 yard freestyle followed by a second individual title in the 100 yard freestyle.  Ashley defended her 50 yard freestyle state title for the third consecutive year!  Her 100 yard freestyle victory was her second consecutive title in that event. Her 100 yard freestyle dominance was underscored by her new state record in that event! Volpenhein now has 6 individual state titles in her Mason swimming career.

The Mason 400 yard freestyle relay team also brought home a hard fought state title for the Comets. The realy team consisted of Ashley Volpenhein, Abbey Eisler, Allison Bloebaum, and Gabby Marinelli.  This was Mason's first relay state title!

Congratulations to the Mason Comets Girls Swim program for a job extremely well done!  We are GMC proud of your fantastic achievements!
