Regional Champs, Lady Comets Head Back to State Final Four

After losing twice to Lakota West in the regular season, the "third time was the charm" for the Mason Girls on Saturday night at Kettering. The Comets claimed their first Regional Title since 2000, upsetting the defending State Champions 49-30, propelling them to the State Final Four.

Mason, who finished the season ranked second in the Enquirer’s Division I coaches’ poll and fifth in the Associated Press Division I statewide poll is making their fourth trip to the state semifinals and first since winning the state championship in 2000. They play unranked Solon (18-8) in a state semifinal scheduled to start at 8 p.m. on Friday at Ohio State University’s Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus.

Mason beat Solon (also named the Comets) 57-39 on November 28. The STATE TITLE GAME is scheduled to be played on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at the same site. In the other state semi-final contest #1 Wadsworth (26-1) will meet Reynoldsburg (23-5) at 6:00 pm.
