Mason's Nick Pearson wins OHSAA State 400 Meter Track Title

Mason senior track standout Nick Pearson accomplished a tremendous achievement at the State track meet his past Saturday at Jesse Owens Stadium. Pearson won an individual 2016 State Championship in the 400 meter dash event. Nick sprinted to a new Mason record time of 47.82 to beat out a talented field of competitors.

“This is my third time coming,” said Pearson. “Last year I didn’t make the finals so that kind of fired me up for this year. I can’t even explain it, the last 50 meters I was struggling to get in. It’s the greatest feeling ever.”

The title was the second for Pearson. Nick was part of Mason's 4 X 200 relay team last season, that won a state championship in Columbus. Pearson, who was also a standout football talent for the Comets, is headed to Lafayette College this fall.
