Lakota East Boys Golf Wins Third Straight GMC Title

The Greater Miami Conference boys golf championship featured a showdown between two of Cincinnati's top programs.  Anchored by Lakota East medalist Kyle Schmidt's torrid two round total of 139, the Thunderhawks held off a surging Mason Comet squad by a narrow four stroke margin to secure their third consecutive GMC title. Lakota East rode a strong first day total of 291 compared to Mason's 300.  The second day was a tale of two teams as the Mason Comets reversed the scoring tables by posting a team total of 303 compared to the Lakota East total of 308.  Based on the strength of their first day scoring, the Thunderhawks were able to withstand a determined Comet squad that put together an outstanding second day of play.  The Lakota East Thunderhawk two day total of 599 strokes broke the existing team total scoring record of 602 strokes previously set by the Sycamore Aviators.
