Lakota East Boys Golf Team Headed to OHSAA State Championships

In a very talented field of Southwest District golfers, on Thursday, October 13th at the Beavercreek Golf Course, the Lakota East Thunderhawk Boys Golf Team punched their ticket to the OHSAA Team State Golf Championship with a strong third place finish. The East boys golf team comprised of: Kyle Schmidt (78), Will Schmidt (73), Ben Irvin (77), Drew Mahon (85), and Alex Dunaway (81) compiled an overall team score of 309 to earn the right to move onto Columbus for State Championship play.

The Boys Division I OHSAA State Championships will be held on October 21 - 22 on The Ohio State University's "Scarlet Course".  The link below will provide tournament information and up dates on this championship event.

“Those guys were all phenomenal
players," said head coach Jeff Combs. “We had more than five guys that
could go under par, and this group’s about the same way .It’s so hard to get to
state and you can’t take it for granted."

 

East was the Greater Miami Conference and
Cincinnati East sectional team champion this season. The last GMC school to earn
a state boys title was Lakota West in 2000. The state tournament will be held
next Friday and Saturday at Ohio State University’s Scarlet Course in Columbus.
