Mason Boys Cross Country Continue Team Dominance

The Mason Boys Cross Country team continued its dominance of the District Championships, winning their 9th in a row at VOA Park this past Saturday. The Comets put themselves in great position early in the race and then improved from there to score a 43-84 victory over second place LaSalle. The Green and White rode the front running of their top three who finished a stellar 1,2 and 4.

Mikey Loehr was crowned District Champion to join the ranks of Mason legends Zach Wills and Nick Grismer for that honor. Loehr's time ranks him number 7 all-time for Mason. Michael Uematsu finished in the runner-up position with a time that ranks him number 11 all-time for Mason. Abel Nijakowski continued the Comets' dominance up front with a spectacular 4th place finish.

Fourth man Paxton St. Clair continued to make huge strides each week placing tenth. Tony Rabe sealed the deal for the Comets finishing 26th. Logan McCormick and Grady Lipp ran as sixth and seventh men.

The Comets move on to the Regional Championships at Hobart Arena in Troy on Saturday, October 29th. The top 4 teams and top 16 individuals will advance to the state meet on Saturday, November 5th at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio.

The Mason boys are the defending Regional Champion and will be seeking their 4th overall Division I Regional Title. The Comets will be looking to make their 10th consecutive trip to state as a team. The Comets have won two state championships and finished as State Runner-up in 2015.
