GMC Runner of the Year - State CC Champion - Dustin Horter Qualifies for Nike National

Dustin Horter Qualifies to Nike Cross Nationals!!!

This past Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana, Dustin Horter raced the top cross country teams and individuals from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, and Ohio at the Nike Cross Midwest Regional.  There are only 5 individual qualifying spots up for grabs in order to compete at the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon.  Dustin ran an extremely impressive race to place 4th overall and grab one of those automatic qualifying bids.  In route to this achievement, Dustin reset his own school record and broke 15 minutes for the first time in his career by running 14:59.9 for the challenging 5k (3.1 mile) course.  Dustin will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Portland, Oregon near the Nike Headquarters to compete against the top 40 individual cross country athletes and top 20 teams in the country.  His race will take place on December 3rd at 11:35 a.m. at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, Oregon.

Horter, a junior at Lakota East, recently won his first OHSAA Division 1 Cross Country Title.  Dustin’s time at state was the 2nd fastest time ever run on this State course, and the 3rd fastest time in OHSAA history, 15:02.8.
