GMC Wrestlers Impress at OHSAA State Championships


Greater Miami Conference wrestlers lead by state champion Zack Donathan (Mason 138), state runner-up Jaimen Hood (Mason 126) and state runner-up Zach Shupp (Fairfield 106), served notice of the quality of wrestling found on the GMC mats.  In front of 13,008 spectators in the finals and a total of 55,627 fans attending all sessions, GMC wrestlers battled their way to the podium. The Mason Comets (57 points) with a seventh place team finish and the Fairfield Indians (49 points) in twelfth were the highest finishing teams from the conference. 

Placers from the GMC were:

106 - Zach Shupp, Fairfield 2nd place; 120 - Jabari Thomas, Fairfield 8th place; 126 - Jaimen Hood, Mason 2nd place; 132 - Zack Donathan, Mason 1st place; 145 - Sam Meddings, Fairfield 3rd place; 160 - Jack Stein, Mason 8th place; 170 - Andrew Sams, Fairfield 4th place; 285 - Jon Spaulding, Lakota East 3rd place; 285 - Zaid Hamdan, Mason 8th place.
