GMC Athletes and Coaches Prominent in the Cincinnati Enquirer Winter All-Stars


The annual Cincinnati Enquirer "Winter All-Stars" were yet another showcase opportunity for Greater Miami Conference athletes and coaches.  While placing numerous athletes on the first team, second and honorable, the following athletes and coaches were selected as "Athletes of the Year" or "Coach of the Year" in their respective sports:

Wrestler of the Year - Zack Donathan (Mason) state champion in the 132 pound weight class, finishing the season 52-0. Zack Donathan was also selected as the GMC "Wrestler of the Year".

Girls Basketball Player of the Year - Sammie Puisis (Mason) AP DI SW District Player of the Year and GMC "Player of the Year".

Girls DI Swimmer of the Year - Allison Bloebaum (Mason) State Champion in 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, also was a member of two second place state placing relays - 200 free relay and 400 free relay. Allison Bloebaum was also the GMC "Co-Swimmer of the Year".

Girls Swimming Coach of the Year - Mark Sullivan (Mason) directed the Mason girls team to a second place state meet finish. Coach Sullivan was also the GMC girls "Coach of the Year".

Boys DI Bowling - Evan Haas (Mason) led Greater Cincinnati bowlers with a 225.9 average and was selected GMC "Bowler of the Year"

Boys DI Bowling Coach of the Year - Kurt Francisco (Oak Hills) Lead the Highlanders to an undefeated (9-0) GMC season and an undefeated 14-0 regular season. The Oak Hills Highlanders finish 4th in the OHSAA state championships.

Congratulations to all the GMC athletes who were recognized by the Cincinnati Enquirer as "Winter Sports All-Stars"
