Mason Boys Tennis Squad Captures GMC Title

COMETS CONQUER SYCAMORE TO CLAIM A GMC TITLE!

The 2017 Mason Boys Tennis Team reclaimed the coveted GMC tennis title in a highly contested head-to-head matchup with the Sycamore Aviators. In a "showdown" of the conference's elite programs, the Comets defeated the Aves 4-1 in the GMC finals at Mason. The Aves had won 3 straight titles since the Comets won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013.   See individual score results below:

Even more impressive, the Mason roster is very young and features a strong group of underclassman with only one senior (Duncan Mackenzie):

Mason ran the table in the league this season going 9-0.  The Comets have an amazing match record of 18-1 with their only loss coming at the hands of tennis powerhouse New Albany back on April 8th (3-2).  The team has been ranked #1 in the Cincy area this season and currently ranked #3 in the state polls.  

Mason will play a semi-final match in the OTCA State Team Tourney at home on Wednesday, May 10th vs. St. Xavier, 4:00 pm.

The OHSAA Sectional gets underway this week at Mason HS and runs thru Saturday, May 13th. Qualifiers from each sectional to district will be four singles and four doubles in Division I.

The OHSAA District Tennis Championships are slated for Thursday, May 18th and Saturday, May 20th at the ATP Linder Family Tennis Center. Qualifiers from district to state will be four singles and four doubles.  State meet to be held on Friday, May 26, 2017, and Saturday, May 27, 2017 back at the Linder Tennis Center.
