With the GMC spring sport season now securely in the record books, it is now time to pause and appreciate the coaching efforts of two the Greater Miami Conference finest. The prestigious GMC "Coach of the Year" recognition is sponsored by DICK'S Sporting Goods.

Tammette Duckworth - Princeton

In the sport of boys volleyball, Tammette Duckworth of the Princeton Vikings was selected in a vote by her conference peers as the 2017 Boys Volleyball "Coach of the Year". Guiding her Vikings to a fourth place GMC finish with a solid 5-3 conference record and an 18-6 overall record, Coach Duckworth was recognized by her fellow coaches for the tremendous progress and the fundamental soundness she has brought to the Princeton program.

Steve Castner - Lakota East,

Meanwhile in Greater Miami Conference softball, Lakota East's Steve Castner was selected by his peers as the 2017 GMC Softball "Coach of the Year". He led his team to a second place GMC finish with a 16-2 record, losing to undefeated Mason on the last night of the regular season 3-2 in extra innings. Overall, his squad finished with 24-5 record against an extremely competitive schedule. This past season, he passed a momentous career milestone by notching his 500th victory as a head softball coach - ending the year with 516 total wins and moving into 12th all-time in the state of Ohio.
