Two Former GMC Standouts Named to Womens' US National Volleyball Team

Lexi Dannemiller and Liz McMahon, both members of the Lakota West class of 2011, have been selected to join the 21 member United States Volleyball team.

This team will begin play in the 2017 International Federation of Volleyball (FIVB) World Grand Prix Event.  This premier annual Women’s Volleyball tournament will be held in China and Brazil in July. After hosting some games in Anaheim, California in August the U.S team will depart to play in the FIVB World Cup which takes place in Tokyo and Nagoya, Japan from Sept. 5-10.

Dannemiller and McMahon teamed up to contribute to Lakota West’s back-to-back GMC championship seasons of  2009 and 2010.

Lexi Dannemiller was twice named GMC player of the year and was selected to three all GMC 1st teams and to the GMC second team as a freshman.  Liz McMahon was named to all GMC 1st teams her freshman through junior years.  She missed most of her senior year due to an injury sustained before the year started while participating as a member of Team USA in the Youth Olympic games.  

Since leaving high school Dannemiller has since gone on to star for the University of Michigan and to play professional volleyball in Germany.

Similarly, McMahon went on to star for the University of Illinois and to play professionally for several teams in Europe.
