From former Mason head coach Craig Murnan on McIntire…

“Matt has consistently demonstrated a high level of commitment and integrity and is the type of coach and teacher that Mason would be extremely lucky to have.  Matt has learned to value the successes earned through hard work.  He has an outstanding balance of experience and passion for the sport of wrestling.   This passion is also echoed by his peers within the sport.   As a career educator, Matt will represent the student athletes at Mason with vigor and integrity.   He is humble, kind, and driven and has demonstrated a student centered approach to his coaching style.  Overall, Matt has an outstanding balance of leadership, experience, and student focused approach that can continue to grow the sport of wrestling within the Mason community.”

McIntire will inherit a Mason Wrestling program that is recognized as one of the tops in the State of Ohio.  The Comets have won an amazing 8 straight GMC Titles, 4 consecutive Sectionals, and were District Champs in 2015.  Last season, Mason advanced 8 wrestlers to State, with senior Zack Donathan earning a 132 lb. state championship.  Since the 2005 season, 4 Mason wrestlers have earned Div. 1 State Titles.
