Mason Girls Tennis Qualifies Four To OHSAA State Tournament


Mason Girls singles players Ananya Aggarwal and Jamie Kim, along with the doubles team of Nicole Reid and Sanjana Reddy qualified for the state tournament on Thursday at the Linder Family Tennis Center on day 1 of the OHSAA District Championships.  Qualifiers from District to State Meet are four (4) singles and four (4) doubles.

Freshman, Jamie Kim defeated Sydney Bailey of Wayne 6-0, 6-0 and Mikenzie of Miamisburg by the same score to advance to the district semifinals and qualify for the state tournament.

Sophomore, Ananya Aggarwal qualified for the first time by beating Ally Garofoli of Springboro 6-3, 6-0 and downing Kellie Hannan of St. Ursula 6-0, 6-0.

Senior, Nicole Reid and sophomore Sanjana Reddy blanked Ayana McCain and Ashton Slusher 6-0, 6-0 and then they defeated Bellbrook’s Shea Foster and Andrea Szep 6-2, 6-2 to punch their ticket to the state tournament.  This is Reddy’s first trip to State while Reid returns for the second straight year having partnered with Sneha Kandi in 2016.

The OHSAA State Tennis Championships will be held Friday/Saturday, Oct. 20-21 at the Linder Family Tennis Center in Mason.

The Comets will be back in action Saturday at 9:00 AM at the ATP for the District seeding rounds.  Kim will play Fisher of Turpin.  Aggarwal plays Niehaus of MND and Reid-Reddy will play O’Connor and Dhaliwal of Ursuline.

The Comets will play in the OTCA team tournament at home on Tuesday against the Lions of Ursuline at 4:00 PM. The Comets are in the final 8 of the State Team tourney.  The winner will play in Reynoldsburg on October the 22nd for a state team title.
