GMC Cross Country Well Represented at OHSAA Regional Meet

It is no surprise that the Greater Miami Conference will be well represented in the OHSAA Regional meet next Saturday, October 28th in Troy, Ohio.

Coming out of the Southwest District meet at Voice of America Park, the Mason Comet girls won the District Championship in Race B, while the Lakota East Thunderhawk girls finished as District runner-up by one point in Race A. With the top five girls teams and top 20 individuals (not on qualifying teams) in each race qualifying to the OHSAA Regional meet, the GMC girls are sending four teams to compete at the next level - Sycamore, Mason, Lakota East and Colerain. The girls regional race will start at 12:30 PM at Hobart Arena in Troy. The top 6 girls teams and top 24 finishers (not on qualifying teams) qualify to the OHSAA State championships on November 4th.

As the GMC boys teams emerged from the VOA and Cedarville University Southwest District competitions, the Mason Comets also claimed a Southwest District title in Race A. The boys competition was divided into two with each race qualifying the top four teams and the top 16 individuals (not on qualifying teams) to the Regionals. The Mason, Lakota East and Lakota West teams will represent boys CC GMC squads in the Troy Regional meet.  The boys teams will compete at 3:00 PM with the top 5 teams and top 20 individuals (not on qualifying teams) qualifying to the state championships on November 4th.

In addition to qualifying four girls' teams and three boys' teams to the regional meet, the Greater Miami Conference saw three boys and one girl win OHSAA SW District titles:

Dustin Horter - Lakota East 14:58.49, Abel Nijakowski - Mason 15:39.75 and Conant Smith - Middletown 15:18.72
