GMC Cross Country Has Banner Day At State Championships

GMC Cross Country underscored its state-wide presence with outstanding individual performances in the OHSAA State Championship meet held Saturday, November 4th at Hebron, Ohio. In an extremely competitive showdown of Ohio's best runners, Dustin Horter of Lakota East edged Conant Smith of Middletown for his second consecutive state title.  In a "photo finish" Horter out dueled Smith at the wire with a winning time of 15:03.5 compared to Smith's second place time of 15:03.9.  Without question, one of the most entertaining and much anticipated showdowns the state meet has seen in years.  These two outstanding runners have battled all fall (GMC Championships, Regional Championships, and finally State Championships) to come down to a difference of .4 seconds.

Rounding out notable finishes, the Mason Boys CC squad (GMC Champions, District Champs and Regional Champs) finished a strong 4th place finish in the team standings. On the girls side of the ledger,  the Lakota East Girls CC squad finished a very respectable 10th place in team standings.
