Lakota West Softball Bows Out in OHSAA State Finals To Massillon Perry 11-1

Lakota West magical softball season came to an abrupt end in the OHSAA State Championship finals when they ran into a buzz saw named Massillon Perry. After defeating #3 ranked Mason, then #1 ranked Lebanon and then a highly regarded Perrysburg team in the Final Four, the Firebirds squared off in the title game against an extremely talented Massillon Perry squad. This where the Firebirds couldn't quite get started and the Massillon team pounded out 11 runs in five innings to "run rule" Lakota West. The fact that the Firebirds did not fare as well in the finals they had hoped, does not diminish the outstanding season and the incredible run to the state title game. Without question, the  26-4 Lakota West Firebirds represented the Greater Miami Conference in first class fashion with impeccable sportsmanship.

Interestingly, as the OHSAA tournament progressed, in a show of conference strength,  the GMC won three out of four Southwest District titles. No doubt, the quality of softball in the league is amongst the very best in all of Ohio.

Congratulations to the State Runner-Up Lakota West Firebirds
