Mother Nature Creates Chaos On "Friday Night Lights"

Lightning delays were the norm Friday evening as the Greater Miami Conference football squads entered week 2 of the season.  After each flash of lightning, game officials are required to wait 30 minutes before allowing teams to return to the field and with each subsequent lightning sighting the 30 minute wait period begins again. With good judgement surrounding player and spectator safety being paramount, most games Friday evening were postponed to Saturday.

There were two GMC final scores in games that were simply called:  Oak Hills moved to 2-0 on the season with a 49-0 victory over Dunbar, while the Princeton Vikings also moved to 2-0 on the year with a 36-6 win over Withrow.

All rescheduled varsity games are returning to the original contest site on Saturday, September 1.  The re-schedule slate is as follows:

Sycamore vs. Mt. Healthy 12:00 PM

Colerain vs. St. Xavier  9:30 AM

Lakota East vs. Kings  7:00 PM

Lakota West vs. Centerville  10:00 AM

Fairfield vs. Springfield 12:00 PM

Mason vs. LaSalle  4:00 PM

Hamilton vs. Anderson  7:00 PM

For ticketing details, fans are encouraged to check their schools athletic web site.

Good luck to all GMC teams as they wrap up week two!
