GMC Has Strong Showing in District Cross Country Meets


When the dust settled on today's Southwest District cross country meets, the Greater Miami Conference made a very strong showing in qualifying a number of teams and individuals to next Saturday's (October 27th) OHSAA Regional Meet in Troy, Ohio.

On the boys side of the ledger, Conant Smith, senior running superstar from Middletown, won his Cedarville District race in a course record time of 15:15.24.  At the two boys Southwest District races at Voice of America (which qualified the top 4 teams and 16 individuals) , Mason came away as Race A District Champion and Lakota West as punched its ticket with a fourth place finish in that same race. James Schmidt from Oak Hills and Nasari Epps from Colerain as qualified to the Regional meet as an individuals.

On the girls side, in the two SW District races at Voice of America the top five teams qualified in each race as well as the top 20 individuals.  Lakota East finished the day as District Champions in Race B followed by the Sycamore Aviators in fourth place. In Race A, the Mason Comets finished as the District runner-up. Megan John and Emma Lucas both of Oak Hills qualified as individuals to the OHSAA Regional meet.

 All totaled the GMC qualified two boys teams (Mason-champion and Lakota West), three girls teams (Lakota East-champion, Mason, and Sycamore. The conference is also very proud of Conant Smith (Middletown) District Champion.
