Mason Boys Tennis Wins "Flight A" in Coaches Classic


The Comet Boys Tennis team finished first in “A” flight of the GCTCA Coaches’ Classic on Saturday.  Mason won three flights and finished second in the two other flights.

Niraj Komatineni defeated Ronit Hiryur of St. X to win the number one singles position 6-3, 6-7, 6-1

At number two singles, Comet freshman, Anish Gangavaram lost to Charlie Temming of St. X 7-6, 2-6, 6-2

Another freshman phenom, Vignesh Gogineni, playing the three singles spot,  also lost in the finals to a St. X bomber, falling 6-3, 6-1 to Preston Stearns. 

The Comets swept the doubles, defeating Sycamore at each spot.  Senior Aneesh Zutshi and freshman, Akshay Joshi defeated Aviators, Bolger and Marcus 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 at the number one spot.  

At number two, senior, Pranav Viswanathan and sophomore, Sam King defeated the Sycamore duo of Wade and Wittenbaum 6-3, 7-5.
