The Sycamore Aviator Baseball Team beat the Little Miami Panthers 5-4 in nine innings on Sunday to win the 3rd Annual Sycamore Invitational!  This is the first year the tournament consisted of eight teams (previously, it was four teams).  The teams included:  Goshen, Indian Hill, Little Miami, Northwest, Sycamore, Turpin, Walnut Hills and Wyoming.  The teams played two pool play games earlier this season that slotted them onto a 8-team bracket.

In the bracket, Sycamore beat Indian Hill 12-8 in the quarterfinals behind Cort Kramer's two doubles.  Lee May and Harrison Barnes combined to get on base 9 out of 10 times.  Sycamore was down 6-0 at one point in this game.

In the semi final game, Sycamore's Wyatt Westendorf and Turpin's Logan Jillek hooked up in a classic pitchers' duel.  Sycamore scored the only run in the game on a Barnes single, a stolen base, advancement to third base on a grounder and then an error.  Westendorf struck out five while only giving up four hits and a walk.

In the finals, Sycamore led 3-0 until the Panthers scored four runs in the top of the 5th inning.  The big hit for Little Miami was a two- tun double by pitcher Zach Smoot.  Sycamore tied the game with a sacrifice fly by Matt McCourt in the 7th.  McCourt delivered again in the 9th with a two- out double to score Lee May with the winning run.  Andrew Fehr pitched almost four innings in relief to get the win while Jacob Zeidenstein pitched a one, two, three 9th inning to get the save.

Sycamore joins Batavia (2017) and Edgewood (2018) as winners of the Invitational.  Harrison Barnes was named the Tournament MVP for getting on base nine out of thirteen times.
