Kristi Kinne Hayes
As a high schooler, Kristi Hayes was a 5 sport athlete: volleyball, basketball, track, softball, and swim team. She was recruited in 3 of the 5 sports. She averaged 52 points a game in basketball which helped her earn numerous awards including being inducted into the Iowa High School Girls Basketball Hall of Fame in her first year eligible. Hayes would become a member of the Drake University women's basketball team where she earned several accolades during her collegiate career, including recognition on the 1995 Kodak All-America honorable mention team and was a Kodak All-District first teamer. That same year, she was voted the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and named to the All-MVC tournament team. In addition, she was named to three all-conference and two all-academic teams after being selected the 1992 Gateway Conference Freshman of the Year. Hayes ended her career as a Bulldog with 1,500-plus points and a pre med degree.
Following her playing days, Kristi went on to coach basketball at Southern Illinois University, where she received a masters degree in sports administration with an emphasis in sports psychology. She then coached basketball at the University of Iowa and the University of Oklahoma. She coached numerous WNBA players and achieved many team rankings and team awards.
Kristi would marry Jonathan Hayes, former 12 year NFL tight end, 16 year Bengals coach, and current head coach of the St. Louis XFL team, the Battlehawks. They have four children: Jaxson, current 8th pick in the NBA draft to New Orleans Pelicans; Jillian, multi sport athlete and UC Basketball commit; Jewett, an 8th grade multi sport athlete & artist, and Jonah, a 7th grade multi sport athlete & social influencer. Therefore, Kristi has coached numerous sports and teams at various ages. Kristi is currently a professional speaker, dabbles in life coaching, is working on a life changing blog, volunteers in her community and her church, serves on numerous boards, and attends numerous sporting events.
