GMC Runners Shine In District Cross Country Championships


The Greater Miami Conference came through with dominant performances in the Southwest District Cross Championships held at the Voice of America Park in West Chester. In a championship race format that featured two seeded Division I Boys Races (A & B) and two seeded Girls DI Girls Races (A & B), the GMC Girls came away with District Championship title in both Race and Race B.

The Mason Comet Girls won the championship in Race A by a score of 40 to 65 over Ursuline Academy.  While in Race B, the Lakota East Girls ran away with the title with a score of 34 to 55 over Loveland.  Maria Kaylor of the Princeton Vikings won Race B honors with a sizzling time of 18:27.83.

On the Boys side of the VOA course, in Race B Mason came away with a District Championship over Turpin by a team total of 31 to 56. In Race A the Lakota East Thunderhawks secured a runner-up spot to St. Xavier 19 to 64. GMC "Athlete of Year" Johan Meyer of the Mason Comets was the Race "B" champion with a time of 15:51.25.
