Oak Hills Highlanders Select Justin Roden as Head Football Coach

Oak Hills School District Press Release:

Oak Hills High School is pleased to announce that Justin Roden has accepted the position of Highlanders’ head football coach.

A veteran coach with 19 years of experience, Mr. Roden led East Central High School to an Indiana 4A state championship in 2017, three regional championships, a state runner-up berth and five Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference championships. He was the Indiana Football Coaches Association 4A Coach of the Year in 2017, and five-time EIAC Coach of the Year.

A defensive coordinator for the Highlanders in 2006-2008, Mr. Roden spent a combined eight years as head coach of Noblesville High School and East Central High School, both in Indiana. He served as defensive backs coach at Colerain High School for five years, and was associate head coach at Mount Healthy High School and special teams coordinator for the College of Mount St. Joseph.

In his seven years at East Central, he led teams to 35 wins and three consecutive regional championships, all firsts in the school’s history. At Colerain, he was part of the 2004 state championship season. Besides spanning high school and collegiate programs, Mr. Roden’s coaching experience includes both small- and large-school experience.

“Justin has a tireless work ethic and drive that will resonate perfectly at Oak Hills,” said Oak Hills Athletic Director Ben Hageman. “He and his family have strong ties to Oak Hills and the Westside of Cincinnati. He knows our community well. And he’ll bring instant toughness to Oak Hills football.”

In his letter of application, Mr. Roden wrote, “I understand that winning requires much more than just talent. Winning to me begins with trust, loyalty and dedication.”

Roden’s hire is pending board approval at the December meeting.
