GMC Represents Well In OHSAA State Swimming and Diving Championships

The GMC, one of Ohio's strongest swimming and diving conferences acquitted itself extremely well in the OHSAA State Championship Swimming and Diving Meet this past weekend.  On the girls side of the pool, Mason finished a strong 4th place as a team and Lakota East followed with a very respectable 10th place.  For the boys, Mason turned a tremendous team effort into a 3rd place finish, very closely followed by an excellent Sycamore squad at 6th place.

The strength of the conference was evidenced by numerous state champion performances. Lead the chargeon the boys side of the pool was the OHSAA "Boys Swimmer of the Year", Mason's Adam Chaney winning two state titles - one in the 50 yard freestyle in 19.62 seconds which also was a state meet record. Chaney's second state title came in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 43.93 seconds.  Lakota East's Jacob McDonald was close behind, also winning two state titles. McDonald won the 200 yard freestyle in 1:37.62 and followed that feat by also winning 500 yard freestyle in 4:22.75.

On the girls side, Mason's Kiara Anchrum brought the OHSAA title in the 100 yard butterfly with 54.48 seconds.
