Princeton Vikings Welcome Bryan Wyant as Head Boys Basketball Coach

(April 21, 2020) Cincinnati, OH - The Princeton Board of Education formally approved Bryan Wyant as the new head coach for the Vikings boys varsity basketball team on Monday, April 20, 2020.

Wyant joins the Vikings after 12 years as the head coach of the Big Red at Hughes High School in Cincinnati.  Wyant comes to Princeton with a tremendous reputation as evidenced by being named the 2020 Division II Southwest District Coach of the Year and Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.  The Big Red finished as CMAC champions, with a record of 18-7 overall, and 10-0 in their division, during the 2019-2020 season.

Consistency, leadership, and high values were key characteristics that the search committee was looking for to build the Vikings program. “Our screening committee did an outstanding job of fulfilling their role to assist us in the identification of our next varsity boys basketball coach,” stated Joe Roberts, district athletic director. “With the level of energy Wyant plans on delivering to our program, it is going to be exhilarating to watch our team both on and off the court.”

Wyant played for the Cougars of Mount Vernon Nazarene University before beginning his coaching career at Hughes High School.

“I’m appreciative that Hughes High School and Cincinnati Public believed in me and gave me the opportunity as a young coach,” said Wyant. “Throughout the past five years, we’ve grown to be one of the top-ranked teams in the area. Moving forward, to be part of the rich tradition of Princeton High School basketball is very appealing. I am grateful to be part of the community, academics, and extra-curricular activities that Princeton offers.”

Roberts expressed, “Vike Nation is extremely excited to welcome Coach Wyant, his wife, Alicia, and their four children - Alivia, Naomi, Braxton, and Ace -  to our program.”

Ron Bollmer, principal at Princeton High School, mirrored that enthusiasm. “We are eager to welcome Coach Bryan Wyant and his family to Princeton. Coach Wyant is an amazing leader with a strong work ethic that challenges his players both academically and athletically. With his experience and leadership, Coach Wyant will be an asset to students, staff, and the community.”
