DICK'S Sporting Goods Recognizes Football Standouts

11/09/2020

DICK'S Sporting Goods appreciates the the outstanding efforts by all GMC athletes this fall and especially congratulates the conference football "Players of the Year" and the "Coach the of the Year".

In a vote of Greater Miami Conference head coaches, the "Defensive Player of the Year" was Colerain's defensive lineman Dontay Corleone.  The three time all-GMC performer which included two times as a first teamer, Dontay anchored and very stingy Colerain defensive squad which allowed only 12.8 points per game in a very offensive minded conference.  With 8 total sacks, he was second in the conference and followed up on that effort with 22 solo tackles and 19 assisted tackles.  Congratulations on a very special career as a Colerain Cardinal.

On  the strength of an incredible all-purpose recording breaking season, Keyshawn Stephens from the Hamilton Big Blue was also selected by the GMC head coaches as the conference "Offensive Player of the Year". Keyshawn, a two-way starter at running back and defensive back for the past two years, has been a three-year first team All-GMC performer.  In addition to starting on both sides of the ball in 2019 and 2020, he also has returned punts and kickoffs for the past two seasons. As Keyshawn's high school career comes to a close, he holds Hamilton High career records in touchdowns, total points scored and total yards. Without question, Keyshawn Stephens will be a tough act to follow at Hamilton High School.  Congratulations!

In a vote of his coaching peers, Greater Miami Conference "Coach of the Year" honors went to Lakota West's Tom Bolden. In only his second year at the helm of the West program, Coach Bolden led his Firebirds to an abbreviated undefeated regular season (5-0) slate which included an impressive victory over perennial conference champion Colerain. The 2020 version of the Firebirds went all the way to the OHSAA Regional Finals before finally bowing out to St. Xavier 10-7. In a most unusual football season under Coach Bolden's leadership, Lakota West persevered and ended with an outstanding 8-1 total record.
