Ben Whateley was the highest placing Firebird in Saturday's Greater Miami Conference Wrestling meet. He earned all-GMC third team honors at 132 poinds after advancing with a resounding 17-1 tech. fall win in the opening round of the tournament and then taking a 16-5 major decision for third place in the fourth round.


James Prater

Middletown - Junior
Bowling

James had a strong week when it came down to our last 2 matches of the regular season. On Monday at Oxford Lanes, James cranked out a very nice 227 game to help his team defeat Talawanda in a fun filled night against a great team! Then on Thursday, James bowled 2 more awesome games that included a 237 & 211! All added up, this comes to an amazing 225 average for the week! James also showed leadership and composure during an intense battle with Oak Hills, with the winner becoming co-Champs of the GMC. Great job James!


Grace Aug

Oak Hills - Senior
Basketball

Grace has been an exceptional leader for the girls basketball program the past 2 seasons. As team captain this year her impact off the floor was just a valuable as her role on it. Grace’s outstanding work ethic and leadership abilities helped guide the team all year long. She has a 4.O GPA, is a Top 10 percent student, member of Student Council Executive Board, FCA, HOPE Squad and a multi-sport athlete.


Owen Pelzer

Owen has qualified for state for the second year in a row.


Samantha Gerde

Oak Hills - Sophomore
Swimming

Samantha qualified for Districts in 100 Breaststroke. She's the first girl to qualify in an individual event for a few years.

Gabby has been our video coordinator for the past 2 seasons. Her unselfish service allows her to be a role model for positively participating in an activity without receiving strong recognition.


Brianna Counts

Brianna helped the Lady Aves to a regular season ending win over Fairfield with 17 pts./14 rebs. & Sectional Tournament win over Western Brown with 18 pts./9 rebs!


Paul Whaley

Paul’s brought his average from 156 at the beginning of the season to 192 currently. He’s leading the team in average and has a high game of 265. Paul’s recent 204 game was a crucial part in the win over Princeton last week!


D'Marco Howard

Hamilton - Senior
Basketball

Hamilton’s D’Marco Howard scored his 1,000th career point Friday night in Big Blue’s 78-51 victory over Lakota West. Howard led the team and all scorers with 27 points in the game. He now has 1,003 career points and is averaging 18.7 points per game.


Aaron Sharp

Lakota East - Junior
Wrestling

Aaron recently won the 285 weight class, GMC Championship last Saturday. He has a current record of 20-6. He also had a 1st place finish at the Beavercreek Invitational. Aaron earned third placings at the Bucyrus, Fairfield and Milford Tourneys as well.


Alex Epstein

Lakota East - Junior
Wrestling

Alex is having an outstanding season. He recently won a GMC title in the 138lb weight class. Alex currently sports a 30-4 overall record. He finished first at the Bucyrus and Milford Tourneys, 2nd at Beavercreek and the Coaches Classic and was third at Milford Invite.


Sam Glassco

Mason - Senior
Wrestling

Sam was a champion at the GMC league tournament this past weekend at 138 lbs. Sam is a 3x GMC champion as well as a 4 time placer. He is currently ranked 7th in the state at 132 lbs. Sam record for the season is 39-5.


Pacey Najdusak

Mason - Junior
Wrestling

Pacey was a champion at the GMC league tournament this past weekend at 106 lbs. Pacey is a 3x GMC champion with an opportunity next season to be a 4 time champion. Pacey is currently 38-3 on the season and ranked 2nd in the state at 106 lbs.
