Girls Swim/Dive

Mason - Senior
Swimming

The MASON Girls Swimming and Diving team successfully defended their state title this season by defeating runner-up North Canton Hoover by 3 points! It was a tremendous team win for the 10 Mason swimmers and divers. The Comets were bridesmaids in 2016 and 2017, finishing as the state runner-up to Upper Arlington before breaking through last season with their first-ever team title. The Comets became the third Cincinnati-area program (St. Ursula 1993-95, Ursuline 2000-02; 2013-14) to capture back-to-back state championships.

Grant Spicer

Lakota East - Senior
Basketball

Grant's contributions to the Thunderhawk Boys Basketball Team have been immeasurable this season. He has stepped into his role on the team as the Hawks primary "big" man after the loss of two teammates to injury. Grant is usually counted on to stop the oppenents best frontline player in most games. Throughout his four-year playing career for the Hawks, Grant has improved every area of his game. He is a quiet and selfless leader on the floor, but a tenacious defender/rebounder with an outstanding 3-point shot. He leads the GMC in Field Goal Percentage this season at 64.1%.

Nate Johnson

Lakota East - Sophomore
Basketball

Nate is a special player with unlimited potential. This two-year varsity player is a big reason East will be playing for a District Title on Saturday. He had one of his best games of the season vs. Princeton in the Sectional Championship, scoring 9 points, while more importantly providing ball handling and defensive contributions in a huge win. Nate's athletic style of play has created a highlight real in 2018-19. His slashing dunk at Hamilton, in a tight game, ignited East to another win. His contributions to helping other teammates find the basket has also been a huge plus this season. Nate currently leads the GMC in assists averaging 3.3 per game. His play during the remainder of the postseason will be extremely important to helping the Hawks advance.
